DOWNSPOUT EXTENSIONS

Send roof water away from your house.

Your gutters collect water from the whole roof and dump it in a few spots right next to the house. Buried downspout extensions carry that water underground and release it well away from your foundation, beds and walkways.

THE BASICS

How buried downspout extensions work

We connect each downspout to solid pipe buried in a shallow trench, sloped so the water keeps moving. The line ends at a pop-up emitter in the lawn that opens when water flows and closes when it stops, or it ties into a French drain or dry well. Nothing sits on the ground to trip over or mow around.

QUESTIONS

Straight answers about downspout extensions.

What’s a pop-up emitter?

It’s a small cap at the end of the buried pipe that pops open when water pushes through and drops closed when it’s dry, so it sits flush with the lawn.

Can extensions connect to a French drain?

Yes. We often connect downspouts to a French drain or dry well as part of a complete plan, so roof water and yard water leave together.

How far away should the water go?

Far enough that it won’t run back toward the house. The right spot depends on your yard’s slope, and we’ll pick it during your free estimate.

Is this a good place to start?

Often, yes. Roof runoff is a common cause of water problems next to the house, and extensions are usually one of the simplest fixes to try first.
