FRENCH DRAINS

French drains that move water out of your yard.

A French drain is a gravel-filled trench with a perforated pipe that collects water underground and carries it to a safe outlet. It’s the go-to fix for soggy side yards and water that sits against the house after summer storms.

THE BASICS

How a French drain works

We dig a sloped trench, line it with filter fabric, and lay perforated pipe in clean gravel. Water soaks into the gravel, enters the pipe, and flows by gravity to an outlet: a swale, a retention area, the street where allowed, or a dry well. The fabric keeps sandy Florida soil from clogging the system, and the trench is covered back over with sod, mulch or rock so it disappears into the landscape.

QUESTIONS

Straight answers about French drains.

Where does the water go?

Every French drain needs an outlet. Depending on your property that can be an existing swale, a retention area, the street where your HOA and the county allow it, or a dry well. We confirm the outlet during your free estimate before anything is dug.

Will it tear up my yard?

The trench is narrow, and we put the yard back together when we’re done: sod, mulch, rock and plants restored and the site cleaned up.

Do you handle HOA approval?

Yes. We prepare what your HOA needs to see and get the plan approved before work starts.

How long does it take?

You’ll get a timeline with your written estimate. A single yard drain is usually a short job; long runs or multiple connected systems take longer.
